Our Start: In the midst of 2020, as the world grappled with the challenges of a global pandemic, many of us found ourselves with a bit of extra time on our hands. It was during these trying times that the seeds of OBO Your Ideas, LLC were sown. What started as a side business, a way to keep busy during the COVID-19 outbreak, quickly blossomed into something far greater.
The story begins with a simple truth – great app ideas are not the exclusive domain of deep pockets or tech-savvy minds. They reside in the minds of everyday people, people who may not fully grasp the intricate technology behind apps but possess ideas that can change the digital landscape. Word began to spread among friends and colleagues, and soon we were inundated with a torrent of remarkable app concepts.
By 2021, OBO Your Ideas, LLC was officially formed, and we took the leap into the world of offshore developer contractors. It became abundantly clear that there was an underserved market for building apps affordably while unwaveringly preserving the original vision from conception to final app. This was our niche, and it was a niche fueled by the dreams of everyday innovators.
As we've grown, we've remained steadfast in our mission and values. We quickly learned that traditional development companies were often unwilling to take the risk of developing an app in exchange for ownership. They're in it for immediate returns, not the journey of waiting for an app to pay off or potentially fail. At OBO Your Ideas, we're here to invest in your app's journey and success, sharing both the risks and the rewards as true partners in innovation.
Our Journey: A Glimpse into Our History
Back at the turn of the century, during the dot-com gold rush for developers, we reveled in a period of boundless opportunities, extravagant budgets, and what seemed like an endless wellspring of talent. It was an era characterized by unbridled optimism, with the digital realm's horizons appearing limitless. However, as we advanced towards a critical juncture in 2002, the bubble began to deflate, eventually reaching its nadir. This downturn had a domino effect, toppling numerous development companies along with it. The landscape of the industry underwent a profound transformation, demanding our adaptability and resilience.
Rather than succumb to the tides of change, we decided to rewrite our own story. It was during these challenging times that we realized the need to redefine our business model. It was a critical turning point. One of our early proposals, embraced by Dell, was a testament to our capabilities, but the financial landscape had evolved. Traditional high-dollar development had become the norm, but Dell, like many, couldn't commit to such financial investments.
Faced with this new reality, we embarked on a transformative journey. We knew there had to be a better way – a way to bring value to our customers without compromising on quality. So, we restructured our team, embracing the inclusion of a majority of lower-cost offshore developers from around the world. It was a bold solution to the budget problem, one that worked wonders for our customers.
However, as managers and technical architects, we experienced firsthand the challenges that came with this new paradigm. It was undeniably more complex to navigate the path to the final product. While we saved money for our clients, our own challenges and headaches grew proportionally.
Fast forward: Today, we stand on the foundation of real-world experience, having built substantial commerce applications using offshore support. With this expertise honed at a larger scale, we continue to apply the same principles to help our neighbors, friends, and anyone with a dream save money while bringing their individual app ideas to life. In an industry where development salaries have rebounded and now reach record levels, the importance of keeping costs down is more evident than ever. We've been on that transformative journey, and we're confident it's a path worth taking.
